Spectacular view and the best shortbread ever!

The beautiful front garden sets the tone for this warm, welcoming place. But the back garden is even better with a spectacular view of the Kaikoura bay. Every room has this beautiful view. It’s a 10 minute walk down to the heart of town and the beach.

Great location, great views, great snacks!

What a spot to stay! We arrived to a nice welcome from the owner and some complimentary home made short bread! The view was spectacular and it was nice and close to the main town area. Breakfast was simple but the ham and cheese croissant was delicious, and the yummy home made muffins the next day were a nice touch. Would highly recommend!

Perfect stay in Kaikoura @ Bendamere house

We stayed in Kaikoura in February 2017 as part of our 4 week New Zealand trip. As the big earthquake happened in November last year we wondered whether to cancel our Kaikoura stay. Our host Julie provided excellent and fair communication. In hindsight we absolutely made the right decision to go to Kaikoura. It is a wonderful place. Bendamere house is a great B&B. The rooms are spacious and well equipped (including airco). Breakfast is wonderful and hospitality great. Recommended!

Lovely room with fabulous views

Our original location in Kaikoura had had to close for the season because of the earthquake. We were fortunate to get into Bendamere House bed and breakfast. The room was on the first floor with a wonderful view over the town and harbour. Julie was a fabulous hostess – very welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean, a good size and centrally located. We had a wonderful stay and the longer journey to get to the town was well worth the extra effort.

Gorgeous bnb with awesome views

We stayed 2 nights via Airbnb for whale watching in modern accommodation in a garden block above a large lawn in an elevated position with spectacular views of the bay and mountains. Alot of Kiwi’s shoe horn holiday accommodation onto their properties but this one is a cut above the rest. Impeccably kept with lots of little extras that tell you it is being run professionally by a friendly host. Big comfy beds and a good breakfast complete the package. This is top end bnb and a great way to enjoy Kaikoura.

Stunning Views and close to the centre

We stayed here for 2 nights for the Whale Watching . The rooms are comfortable offered a very good breakfast . Our Host Julie was so helpful with local tips particularly about the local roads which have suffered from last years earthquake. As we had a early start she kindly arranged for us to have breakfast in our rooms before we left . It has stunning views that take your breath away.

Great Location

Great location with a million dollar view overlooking the ocean. Well appointed room, spotlessly clean, and fast wifi. The host, Julie, made us feel at home and added some nice touches with daily home made shortbread and muffins. The breakfast is typical continental fare; cereals, yogurt, croissants, jams etc. Easy 5 minute walk into town. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely Room. Great View. Wonderful Breakfast.

Staying here at the Bendamere is like staying at your Aunt and Uncles. It’s that pleasant and you are made to feel like you are family. The view from the rooms is quite awesome.
After a good nights sleep, we went down to the dining room for breakfast and it was delicious and very satisfying. We were given two muffins for the road.
We would definitely stay here again.

Very friendly and efficient

We were booked to stay here for one night but had to re-schedule due to a travel agent error. The owners could not have been more helpful. Kaikoura has suffered since the earthquake and I wish them well next year. We were disappointed not to have been able to stay.

Great rooms, scenery and service!

Our second visit to Kaikoura after our first in 2014. On both occasions we stayed at Bendamere House B&B. And despite the recent earthquake we did not change our plans – making the journey via SH1.

Bendamere House B&B provide clean, fresh and quiet rooms. The facilities are adequate and the shortbread a delight with a cup of tea!

The view from all rooms is amazing. The coast of kaikoura at sunrise and sunset is a special memory which this time we enjoyed with our 1 yo daughter.

After a great nights sleep we had breakfast in the communal kitchen. Ham and cheese croissants were super tasty.

We will visit Kaikoura and Bendamere house again and we send our best wishes to the folks there for a speedy recovery in what has been a tough time following the earthquake.

Lovely

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Very nice. The place is modern, clean and has a fantastic view over the sea. It’s within easy walking distance of the town centre and all the facilities and a great place to stay. The warm welcome at breakfast and friendly chat with Julie & Kerry was good. A great place to stay and if you are lucky enough to be in Kaikoura on your travels give them a call although I suspect they get booked up well in advance. We will certainly go back again if the opportunity arises.

Beautiful stay

Gorgeous views right near heart of kaikoura. You can walk to cafes and restaurants easily. Rooms are spacious, modern and clean. Very gracious hosts! Looks exactly like the pictures. Other suites on property but still very private.

Lovely view

We had a room on the 1. floor. The view was breathtaking and the room was very well equipped – we enjoyed the bath ropes. There’s a very nice balcony overlooking the see.
The breakfast was very good, and we got brownies for the road – yummy!

Perfection…

Cannot fault this B&B, Julie is an amazing host, friendly, well organised and helped us out when our previous accommodation fell through. The view is simply incredible, lovely balconies, very comfy beds and spotlessly clean. Free parking right at the door virtually. Highly recommended. Great base to explore Kaikoura.

A Perfect Location

Julie was an excellent hostess. She greeted us warmly and showed us around. The view from our room was beautiful. She gave us such good advice about who to fish with and where to eat. And, when we left each day she gave us some home baked goodies to take with us.
We just hope that Bendamere will be back and running after the earthquake this week, exactly one week after our stay.

Great View, Nice Host

We spent two days here with the fantastic view over the bay from our lovely room.
Our host Julie warmly welcomed us and gave us plenty of useful info at our arrival. The breakfast was generous and delicious, and Julie prepared for us even we need to go whale watching at 7:15 (normally breakfast is available during 7:30 to 10:00). Due to the tight booking, we have to stay in 2 different rooms and our Julie arranged very well!
So nice stay here in Bendamere, and big thanks to Julie!

Convenient location with fabulous views

We stayed two nights and enjoyed Julie’s wonderful hospitality. She is a consummate professional with years of experience. The room was perfect, although we could have used some drawer space and more coat hangers. The bed was very comfortable and the view was exceptional. Julie arranged our whale watching trip and restaurant bookings for us. Cellar View was the best food we have had this trip, so far.

Fantastic views, quiet surroundings

The views from our room were fantastic, the surroundings were quiet as it is on the top of the cliff. The room was a bit of a squash with 2 large teenage boys, but it was warm, we were there in August so it was windy. Getting to the B&B without a car is a bit of a walk all uphill which is difficult with luggage, but the owners would have collected us if we had rung. Breakfast was great for healthy appetites, and the owners are very friendly and informative.

Well appointed room with great views

Spectacular view of the mountains and the sea. We stayed in August and to see the sunset behind the snowcapped ranges was beyond beautiful. Warm, well appointed rooms, with heat pumps for winter and balcony for summer. Unexpected treats too like homemade shortbread and pineapple muffins. If we go back to Kaikoura we’d definitely stay here!

Can’t improve on perfection!

Can’t improve on perfection! Beyond amazing, view was incredible, Julie was a wonderful, friendly and helpful host. Highly recommended!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time and Thankyou for your help and advice.
It’s a lovely place with fantastic views and very convenient location

Beautiful B & B – Bendamere

Most beautiful B & B in Kaikoura. Kerry & Julie are very hospitable and welcoming. The accommodation is top class with views to die for. Very knowledgeable on the area, and the breakfast and home cooking was lovely.

Exceptional accomodation

We were treated with a lovely batch of home made shortbread to have with a cup of tea. The view of the sea and mountains were amazing. The room was of a high standard. Our breakfast was lovely and the daily muffin a treat. I would recommend this accomodation to anyone. Our host Julie extremely welcoming and friendly

Our Favorite B&B

Bendamere is the nicest place we have ever stayed. Stunning views of the South Pacific and the snow-covered Kaikoura Range; rose gardens galore; a lovely lawn on which to read; and an immaculate, quiet room with a king-sized bed and a deck. Julie was a delightful hostess, sending us off with home-baked muffins and shortbread every day and full of good information about restaurants and attractions. Furthermore, the location can’t be beat. Just a 5-minute walk to the town and ocean. We loved it and hope to visit again someday, if we’re lucky enough to return to New Zealand.

Extremely hospitable and friendly host, great rooms, tasty breakfast

The warmth and hospitality of the host just made us feel so comfortable and at home.

Room is not very fanciful but nicely done with many small details to make the stay more pleasant. The details count and there are a lot here.

View is great too with the sea, mountain.

Breakfast is superb. I am a very happy person after the breakfast.

Breathtaking view of the Pacific

We stayed 3 days in the Hartnell King room (one of the upper level rooms with a balcony). To sit there, with the sun on your face and a glass of wine in your hand is sheer bliss. The situation could not be bettered and we loved every minute.

The room was extremely comfortable, very spacious and had a fridge which was useful for wines/beers etc.

Julie is a genuinely warm and friendly lady, who makes breakfast and also provides you with a couple of muffins for your afternoon tea. There were daily shortbreads left in our room too.

This B&B cannot be faulted and I would unhesitatingly use it again and recommend to others.

Extremely friendly hosts, wonderful views

The hosts are very friendly and the views across the sea are breathtaking. It also offers a view of the snow mountains. It is also very convenient with the town centre being only a 5 to 10 minute walk. There is also a complimentary pick up or drop off service to bus stops and others. It also has the most delicious breakfast that there is in Kaikoura. The room is clean and tidy with everything suitable for people from all walks of life.

Perfect in every way

We stayed here for 2 nights over Christmas and could not have wished for anything better. Julie was a fantastic host, so friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The view from the bedrooms and garden is beautiful! We had many a cup of tea and (glass of wine!) over looking the gorgeous mountains and blue sea.
Our bedroom was a great size and so well equipped, the fridge was really handy too. Really comfy bed and powerful shower.
Breakfast was lovely, fab ham and cheese croissants amongst the selection.
Julie’s homemade shortbread is amazing! She very kindly kept us topped up with shortbread and also muffins and cake for our days out too, all delicious!
The town is within easy walking distance (5 mins) so handy to leave the car when going for dinner and boat trips from the town. The Kaikoura Peninsula walk is a fantastic walk which we did from the house too.
Hosts like Julie are one of the reasons why we love staying in B&B’s and we cannot recommend Bendamere House highly enough. Thank you Julie! (and Diesel the cat who put up with fuss from me 🙂 ).

Superb value for money & what a view!!!

My wife & I were fortunate enough to stay at Bendamere house B&B during our visit to NZ. The location just blew us away as the view was outstanding & worth the money alone. The room was clean, tidy & of a superior standard with free Wi Fi. There was off street parking & it was within walking distance of the shops & restaurants. Julie the host was great & was very helpful in advising us of the things to do in the area including the Whale Watching trip. We would have no hesitation in staying here again or recommending this B&B to our friends.

A Room With A (Simply Stunning) View

Now this a very professional operation. The room is very well furnished and the bed is very comfortable. The en-suite has good sized shower cubicle and the obligatory white fluffy towels and there is a small amount of hanging space, our room also had a small sofa.

The star of the show though has to be the view out of you window, it is simply stunning, the view is of the bay which has Sperm Whales (we can wholeheartedly recommend the whale watching by helicopter- awesome) and Dolphins.

So if you’re in the area and looking for somewhere to stay then you don’t have to look out any further – you have just found (probably) the best accommodation in Kaikoura.
